INCOMING GOVERNOR ISIOLO COUNTY HON ABDI IBRAHIM GUYO.

  Time has come when we must not tolerate the intolerable. We must not tolerate bad leadership and underdevelopment. Let us have new leadership that embraces politics of policies, programs, targets and goals geared towards improving the lives of the people of Isiolo County. I intend to be part of this revolution in a point out  plan as illustrated below ..

UNITE VARIOUS COMMUNITIES IN THE COUNTY.

Developed countries have achieved their development by embracing the value of their many differences. Tribalism has never and will never be a solution to our problems. Intend to bring the tribeless minds of Isiolo together to push this County forward development wise.

GIVE YOUTH A BURGAINING POWER. 

The well-being of the youth of Isiolo affects both the old and the young directly or indirectly. It is a sad situation when a father or a mother has sacrificed to take their children through school in the hope that they will eventually get employed and support, only to have this fella   depending on them.

The biggest reason why there are high levels of unemployment is not because there are no jobs but rather there are no people in leadership positions to advocate and push for youth employment, award of tenders and creation of new jobs. With a  youth  like HON Guyo in leadership, we are going to progressively achieve “beyond zero” youth unemployment levels. 

EFFECTIVE OVERSIGHT TO BOTH GOVERNMENTS. 

Another key role for team Guyo  is to provide oversight on the activities of the National Government and the County Government affecting the residents.Be it legislation, policies or development decisions, the Governor  must ensure that they are in the best interests of the people. We wouldn't like to be in a  situation whereby a few people selfishly decide the affairs of this County. Funds in the County must be put into the right use. It is public money anyway.

ADVOCATE FOR GOVERNMENT AND PROMOTE SELF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE JOBLESS. 

The County Government must provide jobs to the jobless where possible and where there are no vacancies our administration shall enter into exchange programs with other Counties. I.e. we give them qualified personnel where we have excess and they provide us with the same where we have shortage. Where we cannot have all absorbed, our administration shall provide startup capital to innovative business ideas.

ADVOCATE SOFT LOANS FOR WOMEN, PWDS AND YOUTH GROUPS. ADVOCATE. 

There shall be a fund set up by the County Government to provide interest free loans to our various women and youth groups to start initiatives that are intended to improve their lives and those of others. Once a group repays, the money shall be given to another on yearly terms. In five years we will have improved the lives of our women and youth and PWDs,who have been neglected, sidelined and discriminated forever in the past.

 PROMOTE EQUALITY IN COUNTY JOBS AND BURSARY ALLOCATION. 

There shall be no discrimination on the basis of gender, religion or tribe when there are opportunities up for grabs in the County. County jobs will be given on the basis of merit as opposed to “who you know or don’t know”. Bursary allocations shall be on the basis of “the neediest gets the most allocation.” This will be also in achieving unity in the County in that no social group shall hate the other due to such discrimination.

IMPRIVE HUMAN AND LIVESTOCK SECURITY. 

A good percentage of insecurity cases reported are as a result of livestock insecurity caused by pasture search and or traditions that promote livestock rustling. We shall provide civil education to pastoral communities on better ways of sharing the limited resources we have in a diplomatic manner. We will also empower them to achieve these alternatives.

PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO LAND PROBLEMS. 

The land problem has been a historical injustice to the people of Isiolo. The rich have had a leeway to grab land from the poor and get away with it. All land acquired illegally must and will be returned to the government for allocation to the rightful owners and the landless. We shall also ensure that demarcation and titling of land in Isiolo has been done expediently to ensure that land owners have title documents to that effect giving them indemnity against all other. People will also be able to use this title documents to access loans to develop themselves.

ADVOCATE FOR IRRIGATION TECHNOLOGY TO COUNTER DROUGHT AND FAMINE. 

Rainfall is becoming minimal by the day thus causing drought that destroys crops, kills animals and even people. We should be already having counter measures in place. Our administration shall put in place irrigation schemes and bring technology especially from countries that have been able to counter drought e.g. Egypt. In the USA, the city of Texas(which Isiolo is also known as) is also a dry place but that has not stopped them from being successful. This counter measures will ensure food and livestock security.
