    ISIOLO GOVERNOR  H.E       ABDI GUYO .   Community conservancies play a vital role in conservation efforts in ISIOLO COUNTY, particularly in rural and indigenous areas.  And earlier today His excellency the governor HON GUYO hosted the French ambassador H.E Arnaud Suquet in Korbesa Cherab Ward Merti Sub county for commisioning of Cherab community conservancy HQ office.  Among the benefits promised to the people were.. 1. LOCAL EMPOWERMENT.  Empowering local communities by involving them in decision-making processes and management of natural resources. IMPROVING SUSTENANCE ON LIVELIHOOD.  This  By promoting eco-tourism and sustainable use of resources, community conservancies create economic opportunities for local people, reducing dependence on harmful activities like cattle rustling.  CULTURAL PRESERVATION.  NRT  will still help in preserving indigenous knowledge, traditions, and cultural heritage, which are often closely tied to the land, its resources and the people.

Almost every survey that has been carried out in recent times to find out what issue greatly worries residents of Northern Kenya  security – or rather insecurity – has consistently topped the list. One recent survey showed that 64 per cent of Northerners  rate insecurity as their greatest concern; much higher than unemployment, lack of proper housing, water and sanitation. Personally too, this is an issue that is very close to my heart; as a resident of Isiolo, a parent and a businessman. It does not matter where we live in the Isiolo  from the so-called leafy suburbs to the informal settlements often referred to as slums – but the question of security is always in our minds.  Residents of these areas lack formal and rightful access to land, housing and essential services.
